What' in my Pencil Case?

What's in my pencil case?

I have always loved pens and pencils.  Ever since I was a little kid, I have carried a lot of pens in my bag.  I feel more secure when I have at least 4 or 5 pens.  Carrying 1 or 2 makes me very nervous.  Are any of you like that?
These days I change my bag frequently.  I usually carry a canvas messenger bag but if I don’t need that whole thing, then I switch to a purse.  I have found that it is usually easier to carry all my stuff in a pencil case and then switch it from bag to bag rather than move around a handful of loose pens.
So…what’s in said pencil case, you wonder? Let me show you.  These are the 3 cases I am using at the moment. They each have different purposes that I will go into.

The first one is a small fold up one that can hold quite a few things.  This one is from the brand Teen Vogue.  I found it at Staples at back-to-school time.  They are not available anymore.  However, I did just find one on clearance that will be part of a giveaway very soon! Yay!  This is the case that I take pretty much no matter what bag I have.  The only exception would be a very small purse for like a concert or something where I really don’t need much of anything, besides money J.  In this bag I keep some of my very favorite pens and things.  Here is the list:
·         Two TriMate pens from Dollar Tree in Black and Blue
·         Papermate InkJoy 700 RT 1.0 with Black Ink
·         Frixion Marker in Coral Pink
·         Staedtler Triplus Fineliner in Grey
·         Pentel EnerGel 0.7 in Black
·         Pilot Juice 0.7 in Turqoise Green
·         EnerGel Needle in Black
·         Bic Mechanical Pencil
I always have to have highlighters with me.  I love to create boxes or circles around text in my planner or journal so I like to have at least one colored marker.  I love the fine point of the Maica for stencils and the InkJoy and TriMate pens are nice for writing a lot of notes.  Since they are ballpoint, I don’t have to worry about drying time for the ink.  I prefer to underline in my books using pencil and I usually write in my planner in pencil until I can change out for a pen.  And the Pilot Juice is just a nice change from black or blue.  Here is the case open.

The next case is for when I am going to the library to study or plan for homeschool.  Also, if I know I will have more time to write or decorate in my journal or I want more colors to use.  I use a bag from Ikea.  I don’t think it is available anymore either.  I love it though because it holds a ton but keeps a fairly slim profile.  This one contains a lot more stuff!

Here is the list:
·         Set of 12 mini Stabilio Fine tip pens
·         Full set of 8 TriMate pens from Dollar Tree
·         Another EnerGel 0.7
·         Frixion Markers in Sky Blue, Yellow, Orange, Purple
·         EssentiSoft Highlighters in Yellow, Orange, Blue and Purple
·         Frixion pens in a variety of colors
·         Pilot Juice pens in Coral Pink 0.5 and Black 0.38
·         Sharpie pens in a few colors
·         Sharpie Pen with a Stainless Steel Barrel
·         Random pen from Target Dollar Spot
·         Foldable Stencils from Daiso or JetPens (I have both the pink and the blue)
·         Colored Sticky Flags from Dollar Tree
·         Post-It Notes in regular size, mini size, and long and narrow.
·         Speech Bubble Stickies from LittleB at Hobby Lobby
·         Martha Stewart Tabs from Staples (No longer available)

Isn't that a great picture? I love all the colors of pens in a pile like that :)
I like having a few sticky notes on hand.  Also, the flags are very handy to mark pages or flag things in library books where I cannot write.  I use the tabs to label things in my planner or notebook or Midori.
The picture below is the stuff that I keep in the front pocket of the Ikea bag.

The last case is really for when I have a lot of time to decorate or plan etc.  There are a lot of tools that are handy but not essential for me every time I plan or journal.  The case is a makeup case from Contents brand and I found it at Target.  It has several pockets and a divided section at the back that is perfect for pens.

Here is the (long) list:

·         Large Lined Post-It pad for lists
·         Calendar Stickers
·         Dot Stickers
·         Stickers with the art of Gennine Zlatkis
·         Misc sticky notes-mostly from Target.  Also bow ties and sunglasses-Fun!
·         More speech bubble stickies from Hobby Lobby
·         More page flags from Dollar Tree
·         Cute page flags from Target
·         More Martha Stewart page tabs, some from Staples brand

Wow! That is a lot.  I’m tired.  Are you?  Here are a few more pictures.

Here is the Contents pouch from Target next to my Day Runner planner.  The planner is personal size.

Also, here is the foldup pouch with the planner.  You can see how nice and small it is even with all the stuff in it.

So there you have it! What is in my pencil case! Yay! I should also mention that this changes a lot.  It really depends on what I need at any given time an what I am loving.  If you have any questions, let me know.  And I would love to hear what is in your pencil case and why you like to keep it with you!
Also, if you are interested, I have posted a two part video about these pencil cases on Youtube.  Go check them out!

Welcome To My New Blog!!

Hurrah!!

I have decided to start over fresh with my blog.  I had planned on having this blog be dedicated to journals and other things related to journaling.  I kept thinking about all the other things I wanted to share with you-books, homeschooling, nature study, hiking, preparedness, small living, etc.  So I decided that this blog is going to be me sharing with you all the things that make me happy:

Our adventures homeschooling and resources we use.  Our adventures being in the outdoors.

Journals:  daily journals, spiritual journals, special topic journals.

Travel journals, hiking journals, smash book style journals.

Travel journal kits, favorite materials and supplies, pens, etc.

There you go.  That's what will be happening here.  I'm not going to post on any particular schedule.  Just whenever  I have something I want to say.  So friends, come along with me and let's see what we can learn and experience together!
